My Chemical Romance is a rock band from New Jersey consisting of lead vocalist Gerard Way, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, lead guitarist Ray Toro and bassist Mikey Way. The band began in late 2001 after Gerard Way witnessed the tradgedy of 9/11 influencing his life to the point of wanting to create a band. Inspired by this devastating event he wrote the MCR's first song Skylines and Turnstiles which would later be featured on their first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. He then procceeded to actually form the band with former drummer Matt Pelissier then recruited Ray Toro and Mikey Way. Frank Iero didn't join the band until 2002 after Pencey Prep's split, the band he was the lead vocalist and guitarist of.
